Drab art is on the way. I am still on the pre-trial, but it's about to start rolling out. Drab is about solely using physical mediums. The flow state is the focus. So it's not about paintings piling up, but rather the underlying flow that produces, and enjoying each step. For DA, the stuff could be described as something you would find among the grounds of a haunted mansion, hosted by Edward Gorey, Tim Burton, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Adams Family, etc.. Maybe not their work, but like a relative, of the past, stockpiling artifacts of a dark past, in the attic, or some kind of hidden catacomb I guess. It's going to be about a lot of disjointed subjects. Pop Culture fades will be in the mix. Nature...landscapes, urbanscapes, etc... Sure there will be presentations but the focus for me...wouldn't be on the map. This is how this form, of art process, differs from the stuff that is good at play up to the pretty little thing machine, which is digital methods, that, by design, wouldn't be about one engaging art process. One is coke with the bubbles...fizzzz....The other flat coke with a synthetic aftertaste upon presentation. I do both, but they are entirely different endeavors. It's why I consider Red Bubble to be an irony. Among the vast majority of digital "art" posts...I see software processes that read more like art balls, of the same stuff dolled up in a different color, a newer way as the machine takes over, to aim at making it in a glass house globular, static forms by the numbers, like a gumball machine. We find some excitement among the visual. We drop the coin in the machine, and yet, the entire experience lackluster, among a psychological mind fuck mirror. Maybe that's too harsh? Still, that is the experience with digital methods. I enjoy it, insofar, as I get to study these digital world methods. However, to carry on as if it will connect to matters of meaningful process when the software has a hand in the process...It's not possible. One is for the machine, the other to orient the mind in a different direction. Something like that...it's not so literal, and it's not on the map...it's something that when you scrutinize working through a variety of methods, to find the few methods you truly enjoy each step of the way...something takes hold...not on the television screen...not served up in the ice cream truck...not running on the software algorithm...there are the harmonies contextualizing space...and then there are rockets flying high, attempting to do the same in such a way where they aren't doing the same...It's like coloring with the blue of paint, rather than blue of realizable sky. It's like the fast-track to the metaphysical and all without the effort, dance magic dances, running that angel mirror often aiming to draw high-row glyphics in the clouds. Circles (Abracadaver) being the preferred design, 3 rings...storm blew the circus away georgie (Pennywise), half a gallon, breast milk made the day (HUZZAH, A88A).
I've done some of the DA folk stuff...but the DA will utilize a different method. There will be similarities and I enjoy both processes, but one seems somewhat sobering as the work intends on understatng the subject with strict replicated intent coupled with off-hand line bending. It's an aesthetic appeal I expect in a flea market or one of the old gas stations I would frequent; While the other seems to embrace a hauntology of sorts, dolled up in a ghostly pop fashion, connecting with memories fading away. It could be overstated. It's always overstated I think. The words always lie. It's just wood and mirage, and my love for elegant decay. It could be whatever you want it to be. It's on the way. That's all.
